Have you had trauma?
Have you been exposed to a traumatic event in one of the following ways:
The traumatic event happening to you
Seeing the traumatic event happen in person
Finding out that a traumatic event happened to a loved one
Hearing the upsetting details of the traumatic event over and over through means other than tv or movies
Is your trauma haunting you?
Check all of the below symptoms of PTSD that you have experienced:
Memories of the trauma that are unwelcome and you feel unable to control
Recurring nightmares that are related to the traumatic event
Flashbacks – a feeling that you are reliving the event in present time. You may experience this as a daydream, or feel like the event is completely real.
Becoming really upset when something in your memory, a physical sensation or something in your environment remind you of the traumatic event
Experiencing major physical reactions when something in your memory, a physical sensation or something in your environment remind you of the traumatic event
Do you avoid things that remind you of your trauma?
try to avoid remembering, thinking about or having feelings about the trauma or that remind you of the trauma?
try to avoid things in the environment (people, events, smells, situations, etc.) that bring up thoughts, memories or feelings about the trauma?
Has trauma affected your thoughts?
Have you had any of the following mood or memory changes that started after the event or got worse afterword?
Missing memory of all or part of the traumatic event
Recurring, extreme, negative beliefs about yourself, others or the world in general (i.e. “No one loves me anymore”, “Noplace is safe”).
Do you often wrongly blame yourself or others for the trauma? (i.e. “If she had left 5 minutes earlier we would not have gotten in that accident.”
Usualy feeling bad emotionally such as being angry or fearful.
Loss of interest in things that were previously important to you
Feeling like you are detached or cannot connect to others
Difficulty feeling good emotions such as happiness or satisfaction
Has trauma affected your actions?
Have you had any of the following begin after the trauma or get worse after?
Being irritable with other people when there is little or no cause.
Been reckless or self-destructive
Overly alert or overly concerned with or aware of danger
Been easily surprised or jumpy
Had trouble concentrating or focusing
Had issues getting to sleep, staying asleep or had poor sleep
Duration of trauma’s and amount it effects you
Have you been having these issues for more than a month?
Are the symptoms or the degree of upset causing you problems at work, at home, with friends or in other areas of your life?
Is there any way that your discomfort is caused by things like alcohol, drugs, medications or caffeine?
